More than 4,000 people pay tribute to Abel Antón in the 15 km MetLife Madrid Activa more solidary

More than 4,000 athletes have participated this Sunday in the seventh edition of the 15 Km MetLife Madrid Activa, the only ’15k’ that takes place in the capital of Spain and which has served to honor the two-time world champion Abel Antón, sports director of the event , when they are about to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their first Marathon World Championship in Athens, in 1997.

The athlete from Soriano, whose image appears on the race’s shirt, number and trophies, wore this Sunday number 252, the same one with which he won his first world championship. Athletes John Chebii and Eva García Morales achieved victory in the male and female categories, with a time of 49 minutes and 33 seconds and 58 minutes and 21 seconds, respectively.

Along with Antón, Oscar Herencia, Vice President of Southern Europe and General Director of MetLife Iberia, and the Ukrainian runner Olena Vrublevska were at the starting line, staging the support of the race with the Ukrainian people, to whom they also sent their solidarity during the awards ceremony with the delivery of a bouquet of flowers to Vrubleska.

In addition, the race demonstrated its traditional support for the work of the Active Education Foundation thanks to the donations that, for the first time, the runners have been able to make at the time of registration, and which will be complemented by the organization depending on the results. finals obtained. The contributions will go to scholarships for the treatment of ADHD for families without resources.

In this edition, where the presence of women reached almost 35% of the registrations, a second race was also held within the main one, that of the representatives of the press teams: ABC, Europa Press, Onda Cero, RNE and Runner’s World. The winner was ABC ahead of Runner’s World and Europa Press.
