Miranda and Hernández de la Riva deliver the trophies of the 43rd edition of the Madrid Municipal Sports Games

The acting Councilor for Sport of the Madrid City Council, Sofía Miranda, and the acting president of the district of Arganzuela, Cayetana Hernández de la Riva, presented the trophies this Saturday to the participants in the finals of the juvenile category during the 43rd edition of the Municipal Sports Games.

It is the largest popular competition in Europe, celebrating these finals simultaneously on the same day and in the same facility. Thus, they have taken place at the Marqués de Samaranch Municipal Sports Center, where boys and girls have played some thirty finals after a season with more than 200 teams from the city in contention.

According to a press release from the City Council, Miranda has highlighted his organizational success throughout this season “which represents one of the biggest challenges in the city” and “which contributes to strengthening the organizational skills and love of sport among the people of Madrid. “.

For his part, Hernández de la Riva has stressed the importance of the Municipal Sports Games and the commitment to the base sport of the consistory “to instill the great values ​​of sport in our minors.”

During the current 2022/23 campaign, more than 120,000 people from Madrid have participated, breaking the record for disciplines by reaching 31 modalities with the addition of triathlon and roller hockey. In this sense, the competition has reached the 21 districts of the capital of Spain as every year.

Basketball, handball, baseball, soccer, futsal, soccer 7, hockey, roller hockey, kayak polo, rugby, volleyball, beach volleyball, and water polo have been the modalities for teams. Chess, athletics, badminton, cross country, fencing, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, karate, wrestling, swimming, artistic swimming, canoeing, rowing, lifesaving, tennis, table tennis and triathlon have been the modalities of competition individual.
