Ministers promise their charges before the King in a ceremony culminated with applause

The 22 members of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, the first coalition government of democracy, have pledged their charges on Monday before King Felipe VI, in a ceremony that has ended with applause after the corresponding family photo. LIVE | Follow the takeover of the new Government here in detail.

After the first Government of Pedro Sánchez innovated by promising to keep the secret “of the Council of Ministers and Ministers”, today the formulas have been varied and only two, Irene Montero and Yolanda Díaz, have spoken only of “Council of Ministers.”

Government members have taken possession by posing their right hand over the Constitution opened by article 100, which states that it is up to the King to appoint and separate the members of the Government.

Together with the King, the ceremony involves the highest representatives of the three powers of the State: the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez; the presidents of Congress and the Senate, Meritxell Batet and Pilar Llop, respectively; and the presidents of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), Carlos Lesmes, and the Constitutional Court, Juan José González Rivas.

The first to promise his position was the Minister of Justice, Juan Carlos Campo, who has immediately been placed behind the King to act as a notary major of the Kingdom, and then the rest of the Government, in the order that sets the protocol: first the vice-presidents and then the holders of the Ministries in the order in which they were created.

On Tuesday, January 14, the first Council of Ministers of the new government will be held and at the end President Sánchez will offer a press conference in Moncloa.
