Mendilibar: “It would be crazy not to continue, the job is done”

MADRID, 1 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Sevilla coach, José Luis Mendilibar, confessed that he was still assimilating the Europa League title against Roma on penalties, while stressing that “the job” was “done” to win the renewal on the Pizjuán bench.

“I don’t know if I believe it, but we have received the trophy, they have given us the medal, it seems that we have won. When we are on vacation I will start to think about what we have done,” he said in statements to Movistar Plus, collected by Europa Press.

The Basque coach, with just over two months on the Sevilla bench, explained the moments of the game and his enthusiasm for continuing the next campaign in the Andalusian team. “We started badly, without looking for spaces, without getting crosses. They have played comfortable. In the second half we have been more aggressive. We have generated more, more crosses, more area. The tie has arrived and it has been hard”, he affirmed.

“Almost nothing has been played in extra time and we have had the success of the penalties. We were clear who was shooting, then they have changed the order. Now, let’s see what happens. From here to Real will be enjoying, and then I imagine “We’ll talk. Yes, I’m very comfortable and I’m going to be comfortable. I’ve been very good with the kids, they’ve quickly taken what I asked for. It’s a very good union that we’ve had, it would be milk not being able to continue. It can be, the work is done”, finished.
