Masters 1,000 | Medvedev beats Raonic to play his first final in 2020

Daniil Medvedev can put a nice finishing touch on a season in Paris that has not been especially bright for him so far. The Russian played a very serious game to beat Canadian Milos Raonic 6-4, 7-6 (4), recovered for tennis, who was one step away from playing the final of the French Masters 1,000 for the second time. Medvedev will do it, who just celebrated his victory and will fight for the fourth time in his career for the title of a tournament of the category. He already won last year in Cincinnati and Shanghai, and lost the final in Canada against Rafa Nadal, who will not be his rival this Sunday (15:00, #Vamos), because Alexander Zverev clearly surpassed the Spanish.

The game, very close, was decided by small details. One of them, the unforced errors, section in which Raonic doubled Medvedev (24-12). The American giant climbed much further towards the net, but did not find as often as he would have liked a way to end the patience of the Muscovite from the back of the track, where he is a titan.

With the serve he was not able to overwhelm Daniil, who guessed the direction and intention many times. There were almost no differences. And in the end everything was decided by one more break in the first set in favor of Medvedev, who saved up to six break opportunities for his rival. The second heat could be closed before the tiebreaker, when he served 6-5, but a burst of character by Raonic gave him one last chance he couldn't take.
