Mandi signs for four seasons with Villarreal

The Algerian international Aissa Mandi, who ends his contract with Real Betis on June 30, has committed to Villarreal CF for the next four seasons, reports the Castellón Mediterranean newspaper this Tuesday, corroborating what was already advanced last week.

Mandi, who will turn 30 next October, has not reached an agreement to renew his contract with Real Betis, a club he joined in the summer of 2016 from Stade Reims, in exchange for some 2.8 million euros . The Verdiblanco club made Mandi an offer to renew months ago, which he has held firm all this time, and the player has not accepted it, since he manages others that are much more succulent, among them this one from Villarreal.

In these five seasons, Mandi has been the most regular center-back in the Betic ranks, as he has started with both Poyet, Víctor Sánchez del Amo, Alexis, Quique Setién, Rubi and Manuel Pellegrini. In Real Betis he has played a total of 172 games in these five seasons, scoring 8 goals, giving 4 assists, seeing 39 yellows, one double yellow and two direct reds in 15,138 minutes of play.

Mandi, scoring a goal this season with Betis

Mandi, as published in Castellón, would have already passed the medical examination with Villarreal, with which he would have closed the agreement for four seasons this week. The Algerian central defender this Tuesday, after listening to Pellegrini's talk in the Luis del Sol sports city prior to training, then went to the gym and did not start work with his teammates. This season, the Algerian center-back was offering excellent performance, especially since he began to form a couple with Víctor Ruiz, with opposite and complementary characteristics to his own, which are more like Bartra's profile, speed, positioning, good ball handling. and not too forceful.
