MADRID, 21 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano will host the final of the Rugby World Series 7 in June 2024, in a three-year agreement -2024, 2025 and 2026-, a “unique opportunity” for Madrid and a “milestone” to “convert to Spanish rugby in a sport of majorities”.

“It is a great pleasure to confirm that Madrid will host the final of the Rugby World Series 7 in June 2024, as the first of three years of this agreement,” World Rugby chairman Bill Beaumont announced during an event held in the rojiblanco fiefdom.

The presentation event was also attended by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida; the Councilor for the Sports Area of the Madrid City Council, Sofía Miranda; and the president of the Spanish Rugby Federation (FER), Juan Carlos Martín ‘Hansen’; and the president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo.

The Metropolitan was already the venue last year for the match between the ‘Leones’ and the legends of the All Blacks, and at the end of August 2023 it will host the match between Spain and ‘Los Pumas’ from Argentina. And now, as the mayor of the capital has highlighted, Madrid maintains its “strong commitment” to rugby by hosting the final and “culmination” of the Rugby 7 World Series from 2024, in a three-year agreement.
