Lenovo Tenerife and Gran Canaria set the pace in the Endesa League

MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Lenovo Tenerife prevailed (61-86) this Saturday against Río Breogán in matchday nine of the Endesa League to continue leading the table, well followed by its neighbor Gran Canaria, which also continued its run with a 99-88 win over the BAXI Manresa.

The aurinegro team took over the Pazo de Lugo from the first quarter. Fran Guerra, Cook, Fitipaldo and Salin put the visitors in good advantage (14-26), with another devastating start after the break to sentence the Galicians.

The leader was once again strong in a match that ended with a cast of prominence, with Guerra a bit more brilliant for his 19 PIR. Those from La Laguna go 8-1 with their fourth victory in a row, against an opponent who is fighting to be in the ‘Top 8’.

Meanwhile, in 7-2 a ‘Granca’ was placed that left a choral performance also with tribute to Pedro Martínez. The coach, who spent five seasons in Las Palmas, saw his Manresa, which remains in the relegation zone, return to their old ways after their last win against Baskonia last week.

That performance was not restorative and on their visit to the island, the Catalan team found themselves greatly outmatched, especially from a 29-18 lead in the second quarter. Brussino (21 points and a PIR of 26) led the locals, with another great match by Spanish international Miquel Salvó (14 and 18) along with Ferran Bassas and Slaughter.

Meanwhile, Joventut Badalona beat Carplus Fuenlabrada (81-85) to put the 5-4 inside the top eight. ‘La Penya’, who had just beaten Barça, dominated the Madrid team from start to finish, with Feliz (20 PIR) and Ante Tomic (22) as the best, although he ended up suffering without regretting it.

Being in the Badalona Copa del Rey remains a realistic goal for Surne Bilbao Basket after their victory (67-74) over Casademont Zaragoza. After an erratic start by both, the Basque team, in their 600th game in the league, woke up in the second quarter with 25 points, a good lead that they increased at the restart.
