Larry Tanenbaum re-elected as NBA Chairman of the Board

MADRID, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The NBA announced Tuesday the re-election of Larry Tanenbaum, current owner of the Toronto Raptors and president of the business conglomerate Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), as Chairman of its Board of Directors.

“Tanenbaum, one of North America’s most influential sports figures and the first Canadian to serve as Chairman of the NBA Board of Governors, has been an owner of the Raptors since 1998 and holds the same title with the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and MLS’s Toronto FC,” the NBA said in a press release.

“In May 2024, the WNBA awarded Toronto an expansion team that will be owned and operated by Kilmer Sports Ventures, led by Tanenbaum. The franchise, which is the WNBA’s first outside of the United States, will begin play in the 2026 season,” the same press release stated.

The note stressed that as president of MLSE, Tanenbaum “has been recognized for his contributions in the areas of philanthropy, business and volunteerism.” “In 2007, he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada, the highest civilian award in the country’s honours system,” it concluded.
