Juan Carlos I and Doña Sofía, at Jordan’s wedding: the most anticipated photograph

It will be the photo of the day. Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía, together in Jordan. The emeritus attend the wedding of the heir to the Hashemite royal house, Prince Hussein, with the young Saudi architect Rajwa Al Saif. We will see that image this Thursday June 1 in Amman together with the host parents, the kings Abdalá and Rania. The emeritus have maintained very good relations with the Jordanian royal house for many years. It so happens that Juan Carlos I and his wife chose Jordan as one of his destinations on their honeymoon trip, in 1962. Top photo, at the funeral of Constantine of Greece last January.

Representatives of European royalty will meet at this link, such as King Guillermo and Máxima of Holland; Felipe and Matilde Belgium; the heirs to the throne of Norway, Haakon and Mette-Marit; and also the heirs to the throne of Sweden, Victoria and Daniel, among others.

It is striking that for the wedding of Hussein, first in the line of succession, and Rajwa, the presence of Princess Eleanor’s counterparts, the heirs Amalia of Orange and Elizabeth of Belgium, has been planned and confirmed. Not so in the case of Leonor, whose assistance is not contemplated. Nor is the arrival of her parents contemplated.
