Josip Stanisic, new positive for COVID-19 at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich defender Josip Stanisic is in quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus and will not be able to participate in the Bundesliga game against Ausburg on Friday, the Bavarian club announced on Wednesday.

According to the club, the player is well and is asymptomatic. In addition, the 21-year-old Croatian defender of German origin is fully vaccinated.

According to the media, two members of the coaching staff of the current German league champion also tested positive for coronavirus.

Stanisic participated on Sunday in the victory of the Croatian team against Russia 1-0, in a qualifying match for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The positive from the Croatian defender joins that of his Bayern teammate Niklas Süle. Since his infection, Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also had to remain in quarantine because they had direct contact with him.
