Jordi Alba: “The quality of the youngest is surprising, at their age I played at Cornellà”

BARCELONA, 25 MAR. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish national team player Jordi Alba highlighted the quality of the “younger” players summoned by Luis Enrique, such as Pedri and Gavi, among others, who make up a “balanced” dressing room of all ages –without world champions, nor of Europe–, something that “is the law of football”.

“I was lucky that I met veteran people who helped me where I’ve been. I try to be the same as they were with me at the time. At his age he didn’t go past Cornellà and they are playing Euro Cups”, added Jordi Alba at a press conference, who this Saturday will be the captain of Spain against Albania at the RCDE Stadium.

Regarding the transition of the players in the national team, the one from Hospitalet explained that “it goes by age” and, for this, the work of Luis Enrique is being “spectacular”. “Some are leaving the national team and very young people are coming with a lot of desire,” he replied.

Asked about the return of the national team in Catalonia, the FC Barcelona side showed his enthusiasm for playing in Barcelona. “I am very happy that the national team is coming here and that my people can enjoy it,” said Alba.

Also, the international winger valued Spain’s qualification for the World Cup after the elimination of Italy, something that he valued. “Spain deserves to be in the World Cup, today anyone can beat you. Yesterday they saw Italy, who are European champions and will not be in the big event. Yesterday for the spectator it was a great surprise but it is difficult today win a game,” he said.
