Johnny Báez, Real Madrid player between 1957 and 1960, dies

MADRID, 27 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid announced and lamented this Wednesday the death of Puerto Rican Johnny Báez, at the age of 86, who was a player for the white team between 1957 and 1960.

“Real Madrid CF, its president and its Board of Directors deeply regret the death of Johnny Báez, who wore the jersey of our basketball team between 1957 and 1960, in which he won 2 Leagues and 1 Cup of Spain”, it says the white box.

Madrid thus expressed “its condolences and its love and affection” to all its relatives, colleagues and loved ones. Báez, who played in the center position, is considered one of the best players in Puerto Rico and in Spain he left his mark with Madrid, in addition to being top scorer for two years, as an innovator.

The American player was a center who was out of the norm, as the Madrid team defines it on its website, “fast, coordinated, with a good bounce, endowed with a great jump, easy to shoot and very elegant”. “It had nothing to do with that of the majority of pivots of the time,” says Madrid.
