James Rodríguez is a new player for Al Rayyan of Qatar

After 3 days of knowing his sudden trip to Qatar, This Wednesday, September 22, made official the signing of James Rodríguez to Al Rayyan of that country, a team that is led by Frenchman Laurent Blanc and that has 8 Qatari leagues in its history.

James arrives at Al Rayyan after having tried to go to one of the main leagues in Europe in August, something that finally did not happen and that forced him to stay a few more days in Everton, andteam in which he had a contract until June 2022 but where it did not fit into the plans of coach Rafael Benítez.

The Colombian signed a contract for the entire season in Qatar and he will continue to have a millionaire salary, a little more than a million dollars a month, according to the English press. The high salary of the player was one of the factors that prevented his departure to a top European team.

In addition to maintaining his star salary, another of the reasons that would have led James to accept his departure to the Middle East is to recover continuity to be taken into account in the Colombian Selection, where he hasn't been for almost a year. Maybe there I can leave the injuries behind and have minutes to be in the South American Qualifiers.

Al Rayyan has not been able to win in this 2021/22 campaign, adding two draws and one defeat at the start of the local league. He is tenth in the standings. James would be ready to play his first minutes next Monday, September 27 against Al-Khor in local condition.
