MADRID, 30 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

India will debut on the motorcycle World Championship calendar with a Grand Prix starting in 2023, which will take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Uttar Pradesh -south of New Delhi-, the organization of the championship has confirmed this Friday.

“We are very proud to announce that the Buddh International Circuit will be on the 2023 calendar. We have many fans in India and we are excited to be able to bring this sport to their country,” said Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.

In this regard, he stressed that India is “a key market” for the motorcycling industry. “We are very much looking forward to racing at the Buddh International Circuit and can’t wait to welcome the fans to experience this amazing sport live,” he said.

In fact, two-wheelers account for almost 75% of all vehicles used daily in India, which is home to a population of over 1.4 billion people and more than 200 million motorbikes on its roads.

Government of India Sports Minister Anurag Thakur was enthusiastic about the deal. “It is a historic day for the sports industry and a tribute to India’s 75th year of celebration,” he said.
