The Minister of Culture and Sports of the Government, Miquel Iceta, has expressed his desire that the Spanish soccer team can play a game in Barcelona and with a “fraternal reception” from the Catalan fans, and has praised the power of the Barça -Madrid as an “engine for the country” at a sports level.

Iceta assured that he would “love” for the Spanish team to play in Barcelona once again, and for the team to have a “fraternal” reception in the Catalan capital.

At the Europe Forum, the minister wanted to give a ‘push’ to the Espai Barça of FC Barcelona and gave importance to the Barça-Madrid rivalry as a sporting and economic engine. “Espai Barça, go ahead. Barça, go ahead. Madrid too. Madrid, go ahead, and in the field they decide who is the best. All this is an engine for the country,” he said.

He also agreed with what FC Barcelona player Gerard Piqué said recently about Madrid. “I heard Piqué saying that in Madrid you can breathe the dynamism and strength that I would like for Barcelona. Piqué played it,” he said.
