The Premier League is experiencing an exciting new season. Liverpool remain strong but rebels are appearing from below, led by Leicester, still leading eight games later. Behind them are Tottenham, the reds and Southampton, in the group of 'revolutionaries' next to Aston Villa or Everton, on a bad streak after a brilliant start.
A point from the foxes, ehe Tottenham has emerged stronger from its 'Tourmalet' at the start of the season between the Premier, qualifying and group stage of the Europa League and the League Cup. More or less well placed throughout, the lilywhites aim for the title, after more than a decade without touching any metal. For that Jose Mourinho arrived and in him are the hopes placed. Those of the North London fans but also those of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, former Chelsea and Atlético de Madrid among others.
“If you look at the three above, Tottenham have Bale, Harry Kane and Son. They are among the best in the Premier in theory. Then, on the bench, we have Bergwijn, Carlos Vinicius and Lucas Moura. In the middle he has options like Dele Alli, Ndombele, Hojberg, Winks … The only position where he can have problems is on the right back and centrals. Liverpool have problems in defense, City, Chelsea and United also. So on paper, this looks like Tottenham's year, “says the forward.
With Pochettino, Tottenham came close to winning the trophy on several occasions. In 15-16 it was an alternative to Leicester but ultimately ended up on the Foxes' shelf. In 16-17 they were just seven points behind Conte's Chelsea and in the rest they went too far from City or Liverpool, great dominators of the tournament in the last three years. Mourinho, who already knows what it is to lift the Premier up to three times, will have to guide his team. Jimmy sees the path clearer than in previous years.
