Goffin and Pliskova change coaches for 2021

Belgian tennis player David Goffin, ranked 14th in the ATP rankings, announced on Thursday that he is separating from his coach, Thomas Johansson.

“After two years together, we have decided to end our collaboration,” the Belgian wrote on social media after losing in the Paris-Bercy Masters against 105th in the world, Norbert Gombos, just after having lost in the first round of the Antwerp tournament against Marcos Giron (94).

Before, Goffin, 29, had been infected with the coronavirus, so he was deprived of participating in the St. Petersburg tournament, just after being eliminated in the first round at Roland Garros against Jannik Sinner (75).

After losing in Paris, Goffin acknowledged not being able to focus on his game due to the uncertainty and obstacles generated by the pandemic, which had also forced him to postpone to 2021 his wedding with Stéphanie Tuccitto, initially scheduled last September.

Pliskova will not continue with Daniel Vallverdú

Former world number one Karolina Pliskova has separated from her coach Daniel Vallverdú after ending his 2020 season, as stated by the tennis player herself.

Pliskova appointed Vallverdú as her coach and added Olga Savchuk to her technical team in November 2019 after parting ways with Conchita Martínez, but it has not had many successes in this season marked by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Czech lifted her only title of the season in Brisbane in January and fell in the second round at the US Open and Roland Garros.

“Due to the small number of WTA tournaments until the end of the year, the Ostrava tournament was my last tournament of the season”, He affirmed on Twitter this Wednesday the number six in the world, adding that he would soon begin to prepare for the next season.

“Unfortunately, due to time commitments, my coach Daniel Vallverdú and I have decided by mutual agreement not to continue working together. I want to thank Dani for all the work and time we have spent together. “Vallverdú also works with the Swiss Stan Wawrinka.

Pliskova has previously been trained by Jiri Vanek, David Kotyza, Tomas Krupa and Rennae Stubbs.
