German Angelique Kerber hopes to attend the Paris Olympics after becoming a mother

HANNOVER (GERMANY), 27 Sep. (dpa/EP) –

The German tennis player Angelique Kerber does not consider leaving her career after her pregnancy and even thinks about participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics, she said in an interview broadcast on Tuesday by the Porsche automaker’s media portal.

“Not at all. I will try to get in shape as soon as possible and get back on the professional circuit, but without rushing. And then I also want to attack again. If I do something, I will do it well,” the 34-year-old said.

The winner of three ‘Grand Slam’ tournaments, who is expecting her first child in the spring, also already has a big goal: the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. “In any case I would like to play there. I have already played in London and in Rio de Janeiro, and it is something very special to represent your country in a tournament of such magnitude,” she declared.
