Víctor Font surprised everyone in the first televised debate of the electoral campaign for putting aside his moderate and flat tone, resorting on this occasion to a resounding and clear speech in all his exhibitions, always addressing the camera and speaking directly to the partners, and without ever shying away from the pulse against the rest of the candidates.
In fact, the first arrived a few minutes later, when the former president Joan Laporta questioned his credibility, reminding him that people who are involved in his project have denied him, directly quoting Xavi Hernández and Jordi Cruyff: “I am sorry that having a five-year project worked with Xavi Hernández and Jordi Cruyff, with their permission so that we can explain it, that later they say from the other candidacies that they have denied to me. If someone finds statements where Xavi denies that he will lead my sports project, I will withdraw from the elections immediately ”.
The candidate insisted on the need to make the member participate in all the important decisions of the club, especially the new Espai Barça, through electronic voting: “We will hold a referendum at the beginning of next season where the member will know perfectly the new conditions of Espai Barça. We will renegotiate the contract with Golden Sachs, because we have other alternatives worked out. We have two urban planners and two architects to work on the project as of March 8, but we will not throw away all the work that has been done so far because we consider it very profitable ”.
He also undertook to a series of initiatives to promote the loyalty of members to the club: “The member who attends a minimum of 85% of the matches will have a 20% discount. The first two thousand members on the waiting list to have a seat at the Camp Nou will have direct subscription from the start of next season and during the term 5,000 more will have a subscription. 5,000 tickets will be available for each match to members without subscription at popular prices ”.
Font He assured that if they win they will have Laporta's experience to manage the club: “We will count on Laporta because he is a very important asset of the club and his experience can be very valid, but not to lead a new project once again”
He was in favor of open the tap to the registration of new partners, but remembering that “the new members will need three years to participate in the elections and not just one like now. But they will be able to participate very actively in the club from the first day they become members ”.
On the role of women in the club, Font recalled that her candidacy is the one in which more women managers will participate in the management of the entity: “The first thing to do is have women on the board of directors. And it is not about feminism or because it is fashionable. Five women will be part of our board of directors when there have been thirteen in the club's history. I am committed to having women's teams in all sections starting in the 2022/23 season. ”
Finally, it undertook to increase the economic resources of the peñas with the challenge that they become embassies of Barcelona: “As of 2022/23 we will increase the financial support of the supporters clubs from 0.34% of the budget to 0.50%. They have to be something more than a house to watch games. They must be our embassies throughout the territory. We have to modernize the clubs ”.
