First Iberdrola must juggle to move forward

To stumble. This is how the First Iberdrola this season. To the ill-fated start of the League – it was not known until the last minute when it was going to start – the postponed matches that follow each other are now added. In total, there are already nine meetings that must be held as soon as possible so that the agenda is not excessively tight.

In fact, of the six days played, only one has been able to complete in its entirety, the third. The rest have been severely beaten by the coronavirus pandemic.

This Saturday, Madrid CFF announced a case of covid-19 in its staff, which has been quarantined, so its Sunday match against Logroño was postponed, scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The coach, Gerardo García León, explained that “when we arrived in Madrid they told us that there was a positive in the other team and given the insecurity they gave us, we decided not to compete.”

Now they must look for a date, although before the quarantine of the Madrid women “we practically get into December and that is a complicated month,” the technician lamented. The match is the fourth to be suspended on this sixth day of the League after those of the Levante-FC Barcelona, Rayo Vallecano-Betis and RCD Espanyol-Athletic Club.

These four postponed games are added to the five pending from previous days. There is still no date assigned for the nine games that remain to be held.

The Ray, the most damaged

Some teams are suffering more than others. Rayo Vallecano, for example, already had to start the season later than the rest of its rivals due to the lack of clarity in the sanitary protocols for the start of the League. So he didn't start competing until matchday three. The Vallecanas have only been able to play two games: against Real Madrid (they fell 3-1) and against UDG Tenerife, which ended with a victory for the Canary Islands in the discount. Barça, for their part, have two pending matches, against Levante and Rayo.

It should be remembered that, according to the RFEF protocol, it is necessary to celebrate 50% of the League's matches to consider it completed. Otherwise, it should be considered void, without champion or relegation. So far, only 16% of the League has been played.

It is urgent to look for dates to recover the postponed games, an extreme not easy considering the international commitments. At the end of November, for example, there will be a new break for national teams. In addition, FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid must face the Champions League.

The fact is that Primera Iberdrola is being condemned to juggle and jump obstacles every week to keep going.
