FIFA council member reveals World League plans

Egyptian Hany Abo Rida, a member of the FIFA council, reveals that the governing body of international football is considering the possibility of launching a World League that brings together the best teams from all continents for the next two years. This option it would be an alternative to the European Super League and would therefore have the participation of African clubs that also wanted to create a new continental competition.

The FIFA World League is considering bringing together the winners of international league competitions. “The important thing is that FIFA and the African Football Confederation (CAF), together with the confederations of all continents, they are working on organizing a World League that will allow three or four teams from Africa to play against Liverpool and the best teams. It is the great challenge that we are considering for the next two years, “Abo Rida commented on Egyptian television.

The new president of CAF, the South African Patrice Motsepe, has increased his interest in organizing the African Super League. “Organizing the African Super League is just a proposal, since the football industry is a big financial matter. It is being discussed, ”said Abo Rida.

The 67-year-old Egyptian, who is also a member of the CAF Executive Committee, was president of the Egyptian Football Association, but resigned following the unexpected elimination of the international team from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in the round of 16.

I confirm that it will be played according to plan ”.
