Eukene Larrarte, ninth in the elimination of the track cycling World Cup

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist Eukene Larrarte finished in ninth position in the elimination test of the track cycling World Cup, which is being held in Roubaix (France), while Sebastián Mora was eleventh in the scratch.

The most outstanding performance of the day for the Spanish team was starred by Eukene Larrarte, who entered the world ‘top ten’ in the always complicated elimination test, which for the first time has been included in the World Championship program, the RFEC reported.

For his part, Sebastián Mora, one of the great references of the national track, debuted in Roubaix competing in one of his favorite tests: scratch, a competition in which he has a world title, two European titles and a bronze medal achieved in the 2020 edition of the World Championship.

Mora had no options to fight the title in a sprint-resolved test and had to settle for eleventh position. The French Donavan Grondin took the gold ahead of the Belgian Tuur Dens and the British Rhys Britton, silver and bronze respectively.

In addition, Helena Casas and Alejandro Martínez competed in the morning session in individual speed and Keirin. The Catalan sprinter finished qualifying in 23rd position and the Spaniard stayed at the gates of the second round. Finally, he was forced to go to a repechage in which he did not surpass the fifth place and therefore he was out.
