Ecuadorian tennis player Gonzalo Escobar, positive for coronavirus

The Ecuadorian tennis player Gonzalo Escobar, 431 singles and 69 in the world in doubles, has confirmed that he has tested positive for coronavirus, although both he and his family are fine.

“On Saturday I did a routine PCR test to be able to play the Nicolás Febres-Cordero tournament in Ballenita. Today I received the result and it came out positive for COVID. Very sorry for not being able to return to the competition this weekend. For now the most important thing is that my family is fine and I have no symptoms, “Escobar says on his social networks.

“Now I will begin a period of isolation of two weeks. The new date of the tournament will be announced soon. A hug to all,” he adds.

Escobar's case is next after the Serbian's Novak Djokovic, the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and the Croatian Borna Coric, all or two of them during the Adria Tour, and the American Frances Tiafoe.
