Dutch tennis coach banned for 12 years for match-fixing

BERLIN, July 27 (dpa/EP) –

Dutch tennis coach Max Wenders has been banned for twelve years after admitting to fixing multiple tennis matches, as well as having to pay a $12,000 fine to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

Wenders also confessed to the destruction of evidence and the concealment of corrupt behavior in tennis. The ITIA has not wanted to reveal where and when those fixes happened or which players were affected.

The decision was confirmed this Wednesday, although the conviction is from April 2021, this being the beginning of the sanction. Wenders worked with different players on the WTA circuit.
