Douglas Costa looks for his hole

Douglas Costa has a remarkable track record. Leagues and Cups in Italy and Germany with Bayern and Juventus, titles in Ukraine and also titles with the lower categories of Brazil, being absolute international up to 31 times. An enviable career at 31 years old that has become, at times, an ordeal due to injuries.

Since he turned 25, only one season has he been injured for less than 30 days. The numbers are chilling. Exceeding more than fifty days on several occasions and more than 100 days out on three of them. He had recurrent foot and thigh injuries (11 since 2015) and thus his entire lower body was affected.

In August, he came out of a tendon injury and this February, he broke his ankle during training. According to the Bayern medical report, a small fissure in the metatarsal of his right foot that keeps him away from the pitch.

Costa almost chains recovery processes and wants to enjoy what remains of football. He publicly expressed his ambition to return to Italy. “It is a country that I appreciate a lot. We will see what happens, I still have a contract with Juve,” he said with Pierluigi Pardo. But his future indicates that he will not continue in Turin.

According to Brazilian journalist Vagner Martins, Gremio and Douglas Costa had conversations but have not reached an agreement for the Brazilian to return to what was his home and academy in his first steps in football. After seeing that return is complicated, Douglas works on getting back on track and changing his future in search of more titles and being able to enjoy his work again.
