Bucsa and Bassols, final of the Mapfre League in Les Franqueses

The Cantabrian Cristina Bucsa and from Girona Marina Bassols will star in the final of the last tournament of the MAPFRE Women's Tennis League at the Club Tennis Els Gorchs (€ 24,000), in the Barcelona town of Les Franqueses del Vallès. The game will be broadcast live on Teledeporte and streaming on LaLigaSports TV starting at 5:00 p.m.

The first favorite of the tournament, Cristina Bucsa, has had to save up to three match balls against María Gutiérrez to reach his second consecutive final on this tour. “At the most critical points is when I get more claw and I have been able to win the last three points,” he acknowledged.

Bucsa saves 3 match balls

Semifinalist in the first Platja d’Aro tournament and finalist last week in Castellón, No. 176 in the world ranking He has reversed a bad start to the game in which he has yielded 6 games in a row, to end up prevailing Gutiérrez by 2-6, 6-3 and 7-5.

Bucsa has had to play the previous phase of the tournament as it was not initially registered, although yesterday it was not possible to play its semifinal match against Irene Burillo, having to be hospitalized for an indisposition.

Bassols sweats to close the game

The great expectation of the day was to see the young promise of world tennis, Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva, just 14 years old, in action. The Andorran, junior champion of this year's Australian Open and current No. 1 in the category, yesterday had surprised the second favorite Nuria Párrizas in the quarters.

Today however, it has failed to unsettle a Marina Bassols who has imposed her experience in the key moments to win with a double 6-3.

Still, the 20-year-old Blanes tennis player has needed up to 10 match balls in the last game: “I did not want to think about the match balls that I have lost because I have played some well and Vicky has also played better than me, and I was thinking only about the next point.”

Guillermo García López, finalist in La Nucía

Albacete Guillermo García López and Belarusian Ilya Ivashka will compete in the final of the last tournament of the MAPFRE “Valor” Tennis League at the Ferrer de La Nucía Tennis Academy, in Alicante, with € 12,400 in prizes.
