Bernabé Zapata overcomes the previous one to play Wimbledon

MADRID, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Bernabé Zapata overcame this Thursday the third and final match of the Wimbledon qualifying phase to access the main draw of the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, against the Italian Salvatore Caruso 6-4, 6-7 (5) , 6-3, 6-3).

The Valencian, who came from being one of the surprises at Roland Garros reaching the round of 16, was able to produce a determined and promising version this week on the London grass to be in the draw for this Friday.

Zapata won the ticket to the main draw of the English Open with a great performance against Caruso. The Italian was a tough opponent, but the Spaniard showed the level that took him far in Paris, despite which he had to go through this qualifying round in London.

For the Valencian it is his second appearance at Wimbledon, after also achieving it last year since the previous one, and the fifth ‘Grand Slam’ tournament to which he has access, all in the last year, since Roland Garros 2021 was the first.
