Baskonia beats Real Madrid in triple draw with Barça

MADRID, 19 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Cazoo Baskonia stormed (88-95) this Sunday the WiZink Center on matchday 23 of the Endesa League to serve up a tight fight for the lead, both with 19 wins as a Barça team that beat Unicaja (81-86) at Martín carpena.

Joan Peñarroya’s men made four of four against the whites, only victories for the Basques this season against a Madrid that went from more to less at the Palace. Max Heiddeger, reinforcement of the month of January, was the best of the visitors, in his best game with Baskonia with 19 valuation credits.

Gabi Deck, with 21 points and a PIR of 26, was the highlight of a Madrid team that was unsuccessful in the final minutes in which the game was decided. Together with the Argentine, Tavares marked a good start for the Whites (27-15), but in the second half they saw the best Baskonia, intense and causing local losses.

Barça took advantage of the direct duel from above shortly before, successfully ending their demanding visit to Malaga. Sarunas Jasikevicius’ men took some revenge for their elimination in the Copa del Rey thanks to Laprovittola and Satoransky, both with 16 points, and a strong return from the locker room to change the dynamics.

The people from Malaga, with their fourth defeat in the last five games, lose some rhythm to chase fourth place, although they easily maintain the ‘playoffs’ zone. For Barça, the victory brought good news in the afternoon session from the capital, which leaves that three-way tie (19-4) in the lead.

Meanwhile, Valencia Basket consolidated the eighth position with a strong performance against a Coviran Granada surpassed by the physical ‘taronja’ (80-72). James Webb (13 points, 7 rebounds and a PIR of 19) was the best. In addition, the day left the victory (71-87) of Casademont Zaragoza against Río Breogán and that of Surne Bilbao Basket over Bàsquet Girona (84-77).
