Agents of Gustavo Maia (01-22-2001), center forward of the Sao Paulo subsidiary, affirmed in Brazil that Barcelona will pay 4.5 million euros this month to get 70 percent of the promising footballer's pass. The remaining 30 percent will continue to belong to Sao Paulo, the team with which he has a contract until 2022.
The Blaugrana club paid a million euros last March to reserve a preferential option in the signing of Maia. The option expires on June 30 and Barça has decided, always according to the footballer's agents, to make it effective. Failure to do so, the million euros of the reserve was lost. The total of the operation will therefore amount to six million euros.
The player was very close to being loaned this season to Flamengo, but due to family problems the operation was frustrated. Following this event, Maia was suspended by his club for bad behavior. It was at that time that the option to go to Barcelona and close the conflict between Sao Paulo and Flamengo arose.
It is a center striker 1.69 tall, very skillful with the ball and technically gifted that despite his qualities he has not yet made his debut with the Sao Paulo first team. It is therefore a future bet to detect talent before its price is unaffordable.
