Barça fires Óscar Grau

According to the journalist Xavi Torres from TV3, Barça fired Òscar Grau this Wednesday. Grau had been CEO of the Barça club under Josep Maria Bartomeu. Upon the arrival of Joan Laporta, and with a view to placing Ferran Reverter in the position of CEO (Reverter is already working in the Camp Nou offices), had been repositioned in the position of head of all professional sections replacing Albert Soler, who had also been fired.

Without going further, Grau had represented Barça in an important meeting of the Euroleague last Monday. After collaborating in informing the club about the status of the accounts, the Laporta board of directors has decided that it is time to do without him. His replacement will be Xavier Budó, Carla Suárez's former coach and tennis-related figure. Xavi O'Callaghan rang to replace him as general director of sections, but here there has also been a swerve from the new Board.

Òscar Grau enjoyed a very good reputation as a professional at the club until he was swept away by Bartogate, the social media scandal in which the Barça leadership hired a company for a price above the market to erode, with accounts of facebook, the image of Barça legends. Grau was arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra on March 1 but was later released. Both he and Román Gómez Ponti will have to testify as investigated on June 7.
