Barça accepts the resignation as technical secretary of Plans

The Barça announced this Tuesday afternoon that accepts the resignation as technical secretary of Ramon Planes, who asked to leave office last week after confirming the arrival of Xavi Hernández to the Barça bench.

The club, through a statement, has wanted “publicly express gratitude to Ramon Planes for his commitment, professionalism and contribution throughout these years” and wished him “luck and new successes in the future”.

Although his contract ended on June 30, 2022, Planes wanted to advance his departure with the intention of having enough time to realize his future with another club.

A) Yes, Barça has been left without a technical secretary for the winter market. Mateu Alemany will continue to lead the football area and Xavi Hernández may gain relevance beyond the bench. On the other hand, the departure of Planes could also represent a step forward for Jordi Cruyff, until now international scouting director.

Planes arrived at Barça in 2018 under the mandate of Josep Maria Bartomeu to be an assistant in the technical secretariat of Éric Abidal, whom he would end up replacing in August 2020.

Your farewell letter

Today culminates a stage in my professional career that I never thought I would have experienced when I took my first steps as a coach in Lleida, my hometown, training young footballers who later had the opportunity to play in the First and Second Division. Today is a sad day because I am dissociating myself from FC Barcelona, one of the best clubs in the world and a benchmark organization in which I have grown as a professional and from which I have learned great and important lessons.

But, at the same time, it is a day full of pride and emotion because I consider that I have contributed, with humility, enthusiasm and dedication, to continue building a Barça for the future. A team of people, professionals and footballers who, regardless of the current context, I am sure will regain international leadership thanks to the contribution of the new talents who have joined these years and the established players of the current squad.

I want to convey a deep and more than sincere thanks to Barça, to all its employees and to the different leaders of the club who have trusted me and have allowed me to be part of it during these last 4 seasons. Years in which he has always been at the service of the club, at the time and in the place that has been required of me, because that is my way of working: in silence and with absolute dedication for a project, a team and a hobby like the of the Barça.

It is difficult to highlight something from these 4 seasons, but if there is something that I consider remarkable in these years (and, in addition, it is part of my vision of football) it is the firm commitment to the quarry and the young talents that, today, they belong to the first team. Personally, their participation is a source of pride, at the same time, they are the main asset of the club and the future of this Barça. I am convinced that they will give great illusions and trophies shortly.

These successes will also come from good judgment, knowing how to be and work that I am sure that Xavi Hernández and his technical staff will contribute. I wish you the best results and a long career full of victories and joys at the helm of the Barça first team.

And, finally, but just as or more important than the rest, I am left with a special and affectionate feeling from the employees who make it possible for Barça to be more than just a club today. The stages in football, as in life, are marked by people. At Barça I have met great soccer professionals, but above all, I take great friends with me“.
