Atlético de Madrid wins LaLiga Promises in Orlando

Atlético de Madrid was proclaimed champion of the VI LaLiga Promises Santander Orlando 2022 International Tournament by culminating a great tournament with a 3-5 victory in the final against Real Madrid.

Álvaro, Guille -with a hat-trick- and Gómez scored the red and white goals in the derby that saw the final of the tournament held on US soil. Madrid took the lead through Enzo Alves, a 1-0 in which he showed his great quality.

Atleti did not change their good intentions on the pitch and equalized through Álvaro, to turn around with the first of Guille’s goals. Manu Romero scored with a spectacular header after a corner to raise the excitement again (2-2).


Once again, Guille and Romero exchanged goals for both teams, but the outcome was atletico with two goals in the last two minutes of the game. Held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, the tournament crowned Ian as MVP of the tournament, while Guille finished as the top scorer with seven goals.

The rojiblanca Academy won the fifth LaLiga Promises title in its history, after the national edition won in Benalmádena 2012 and the winter international editions won in Bilbao 1997 and Tenerife 2011 and 2012.
