Athletic gets into the final against Barça after getting rid of Betis

Athletic will play the final of the Youth Champions Cup on Saturday after yesterday eliminating Betis in the semifinals. The rojiblanco team resorted to the same weapons exhibited last Sunday in the quarterfinals against UD Las Palmas in Lezama: a superb Peñalver, an accurate Marín and a solid and consistent block despite playing in numerical inferiority from minute 63 due to expulsion, for double yellow, from the left-hand side Railing. The puppies, despite everything, knew how to grit their teeth behind and keep the advantage on the scoreboard until the end of the match.

Jon Solaun resorted to practically the same starting eleven from the previous clash against the Canaries. The only change was motivated by the entry of Bita in midfield to replace Badiola. The start of the rojiblancos was hopeful, since Marín, the center forward, had a good opportunity to cross Vicando when barely four minutes had been played.

Athletic, despite this spirited start, was losing gas with the passing of the minutes. Betis, without doing anything of the other world, began to take over the situation, although without generating clear chances against the framework defended by Peñalver. The Navarrese goalkeeper, in any case, made a great intervention to finish off Cantarero before the break.

When the verdiblancos dominated the most, however, Marín’s counter goal came after a great pass from Alba and the red almost followed by a double yellow card to Barandalla. The puppies endured with one less than half an hour with a superb Peñalver again. Barça awaits in the final.
