The Spanish player Álvaro Robles qualified for the third round of the Table Tennis World Championship that is taking place in the South African town of Durban after defeating the Nigerian Quadri Aruna, classified in the ‘Top 12’ of the championship.
As reported by the RFETM, the Huelva paddler overcame a complicated start to seal a spectacular comeback and win 4-3, with partial scores of 8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-9, 3 -11, and 11-8, and get one of the “biggest” wins of his career.
On the other hand, Robles did not have so much luck in the mixed doubles competition where he was eliminated along with María Xiao after losing 1-3 against Lin and Chen of Chinese Taipei, with partial scores of 3-11, 6-11, 11-6, and 10-12. Xiao was also left out of the individual competition as she was unable to overcome Wang Yidi, the tournament’s fourth seed, by a clear 0-4 (5-11, 3-11, and 4-11).
