A new mess is looming with the schedules of day 9 of the League

LaLiga has announced the schedules of the ninth day of LaLiga Santander. This will begin on Saturday, October 16 at 9:00 p.m. with the Real Sociedad-Mallorca match and will end on Monday, October 18 at 9:00 p.m. with Espanyol-Cádiz. Nevertheless, As happened on matchday 4, two matches will be postponed due to the international matches of the national teams, which will cause a new mess as happened at the beginning of September. On this occasion, the games that will be postponed are Real Madrid-Athletic and Granada-Atlético, for which “no time or date is set and it will be communicated in due course.”

This new situation is due, as was the case on matchday 4, to the request by LaLiga to the RFEF Competition Committee, today, for the postponement of the aforementioned matches due to the already known fact of the extension by FIFA of the international period of Conmebol selectionsuntil Thursday night before (October 14, early morning of Friday 15 in Spain) and that affects the aforementioned clubs that must play their official Champions League matches on Tuesday, October 19. “This request to the Competition Committee, consistent with the postponement already granted for Day 4, tries to alleviate as much as possible the irreparable damage caused by a decision that threatens the sporting integrity of the competition,” concluded the statement issued by the LFP .

This LaLiga decision will once again find the negative response from the RFEF, as happened on matchday 4, when said establishment appealed the resolution of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) on the postponement of the LaLiga Santander Sevilla-FC Barcelona and Villarreal-Alavés matches and accused the body chaired by José Manuel Franco of “putting the integrity of the competition at risk.

UEFA and FIFA expressed their support for the RFEF after learning of this “dangerous precedent” for international sport because, according to her, it is “the first time that in a national league championship they intend to suspend official matches as a result of the transfer of footballers to their national teams.”
